Karavostassi , the main port, is located to the east of the island at the bottom of an indented bay. As soon as you step ashore, you are greeted by colorful caiques who are waiting to take you to almost solitary coves.
Unpretentious, this small village where the Agios Artemios chapel dominates is nevertheless full of charm with its cheerful taverns, its white pebble beach, shaded by a row of tamarisk trees. It is surrounded by a succession of rocky spurs and coves suitable for swimming and, here and there, a few chapels most of the time hidden in the middle of half-abandoned sheepfolds. The sunrise on a clear day is a true marvel. Beach fans will find a few hotels and rentals there, the number of which increases every year. At the rear of the port is the beautiful sandy beach of Vardia . 800 m from the port are the lovely sandy coves of Latinaki , Vincenzo and Pountaki .
Bus service from the port to Chora and Ano Meria .
